Plot Summary (key events that have happened):

In the story Looking for Alibrandi, we get to know Josie a bit we know that she goes to St Martha's School where she feels as if she does not fit in because she is caught in a social difference. Josie is one of the main characters she gives a lot of information about her appearance and describes her life at school and home. We get a brief understanding of whats happening in the story through the first chapter. We realise Josie has never met her father, she is very close with her mother, Josie or her mother do not get along with there nonna much because she tries to have to much input in Josie's life. From what we have heard so far Josie has it hard she has a lot of problems that haven't yet been unraveled we have only had a sneak peak of her "book of problems" as Josie mentioned.

Challenges faced by the character(s)/information revealed about character (s):

In this chapter we find out that Josie's mother Christina was very young when she found out she was pregnant she was only 16 and the father to her child used to live next door to Josie's nonna until his family moved to Adelaide leaving Christina to raise Josie alone. Suddenly Josie's father has come back into the picture and is acting naive to the fact he has had a child he pretends as if he doesn't know Christina when they bumped into each other at Josie's Nonna's house. Josie's father has come to live in Sydney for a year to work in a law chamber.

'I wanted to go to a school in the inner west where all my friends had gone, they were Italian and Greek and we ruled my primary school, they knew what it felt to not be allowed out or to do something.' (pg 7)

'However they were smart they moved out of the inner west and inner city and became respectable, being respectable makes you acceptable.' (Pg 6)

Personal response (what do you think the chapters were about):

I believe Josie father is back for other reasons than just working in Sydney but i believe that Christina is hiding something as she is very worried of his arrival.
